What's for You:

Youth

Having youngsters spend time together and spend time with adult role models is important to our Second Family. That’s why we encourage our grade-school and middle-school girls to be part of the GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) program and the boys to be part of our Cadets program, each of which meets on alternating Monday evenings. We also have a youth group for high-schoolers that meets a couple of times a month for fun activities, service projects and international mission trips.

Adults and seniors

We spend time in fellowship as a congregation with weekly after-church coffee times and occasional all-church potlucks. We also have groups that meet on a regular basis. Our women enjoy getting together for fun activities. We love and appreciate our senior saints and about every other month offer activities such as afternoon parties, out-of-town trips and barbecues. We also provide communion, sermon CDs and pastoral visits to shut-ins and those in care facilities, and, of course, Bible studies for all ages (see below).

Serving those in need

When someone is ill, going through treatments or in need of rides, we have teams of people who help out by bringing meals or providing transportation. Our pastor, elders and deacons also make frequent calls on individuals and families to help if spiritual or financial needs arise. The Lord also has gifted our congregation with many men and women who enjoy working with their hands, and so those on our Fix-It team share that gift with those in our community who need work done on small appliances and other “fix-ups” around the house.

Serving our community

We also have a passion for helping others in our community. Sometimes that means using our hands and sweat in working on Habitat For Humanity houses or community projects like the Million Smiles playground or at New Way Ministries for homeless women and children. We also support dozens of local causes, including Project Hope in Lynden, the Lighthouse Mission in Bellingham, Christian schools, youth sports programs, city parades, the Cystic Fibrosis Bike-A-Thon and American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

Missions

We believe it is important to support missionaries through our offerings, our prayers and our interest. Each week we spotlight different missionaries and give an update of their work to our congregation. We also financially support six missionaries and missionary agencies with a special monthly offering, and collect money for others locally and abroad at various times. In addition, we have both youth and adult groups from our church that have done missions work in places such as Mississippi, Texas, Alaska and Mexico.
